Andrea Bocelli Daily Routine

‘When I’m approaching a big, important concert, I avoid sex. In a way, I’m like an athlete, so it’s crucial that I don’t sap my energies before the big event. It’s a rule of mine at these times and should be respected. But, of course, it all depends on my ability to restrain myself! If I stick to my rule, it’s good for me in the long run, because after it’s over I enjoy sex even more.’

‘These days I am conscious of setting an example to my children, so I’ve become less reckless. But when the mood takes me, I like to be a man of action. I like to windsurf and ski, and most of all I love to ride horses. The wilder and faster the better! If I’m presented with a fast horse or a fast boat, I still get that shiver of excitement and I cannot resist. Luckily I never seem to have any accidents, and thank God for that.’

Being always professional, I can’t eat too much, or drink. My diet is very simple. Almost every day I have pasta – only with olive oil; no sauces or butter. I never cook, although as a good Italian I can, of course, make pasta. I always eat as many vegetables as I can. I have some meat, two or three times a week, but no more, because it’s dangerous.

The only “rider” I have backstage is for water. Sometimes when I get home from a concert I open a bottle of wine and finish it. I call this “The Happiness Bottle”.
