What is the first thing you do in the morning?

“The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is I go to the gossip websites to make sure I’m not in them: Bossip, World Star Hip Hop, TMZ—all that good stuff.”

What’s your definition of wellness?

“Working out, waking up smiling, making other people happy, and having a good time.”

“My favorite song to work out to is The Lost Boys’ ‘Cry Little Sister.’”

Craziest thing you’ve tried in the name of wellness:

“Drank egg yolks after watching Rocky. I’ll never do it again. [Laughs]”

Best piece of advice he’s ever received:

“All the greatest leaders are the ones smart enough to hire people smarter than them.”

The ’90s trend he’d wear right now:

“I would want to wear my long suits with the long jackets—with the jackets to the back of my thighs.”

According to Shaq:

I’ve never drunk a coffee in my life. In the morning I like orange juice. I live in Florida, so we get the fresh stuff.
For breakfast, I like to go with the egg-white omelette.

Things have changed a little bit since I stopped playing. This summer I took two months off from keeping to a diet, but I’m not really a bad eater anyway. My definition of bad eating is “too many sandwiches.” I’m a sandwich guy: turkey sandwiches, turkey burgers.
My turkey sandwich is just low-fat mayo from Whole Foods, and then thin wheat bread, a couple slices of turkey, a couple slices of cheese, lettuce and tomato, and that’s it. So lunch is a sandwich, and dinner is either salmon, chicken, or steak.
